Procurement Manager Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to lead strategic procurement initiatives, develop sourcing strategies, and negotiate agreements with carriers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining sourcing strategy, spend analysis, strategic partnerships, vendor identification and development, as well as tactical elements such as leading negotiations, creating proposals, and collaborating with internal stakeholders.

They will need to understand the impact of contract terms, compliance obligations, business concerns, and be able to explain contract terms to stakeholders while identifying ways to meet customers' needs.

The Procurement Manager will also lead the effort to resolve all carrier questions and concerns in contract negotiations, including collaboration with internal stakeholders on specific areas of concern.

Key Responsibilities Include:

1. Developing and implementing sourcing strategy to achieve step changes in cost structure, capacity, and diversification by analyzing and reviewing transportation capability in the market against business requirements.
2. Identifying and developing carrier partners across categories, especially those who can drive innovation, sustainability, speed, and customer experience.
3. Advising and providing thought leadership on the execution of competitive commercial, channel, and partner deal opportunities.
4. Developing innovative commercial models and negotiating delivery services agreements.
5. Executing contracts and competitive structures to maximize the value of opportunities consistent with Delivery Services objectives and requirements.
6. Working closely with global partners and local stakeholders to understand existing vendor negotiation tools and contracts, and assessing gaps between what exists and what is needed in the market.
7. Building a comprehensive negotiation strategy in line with global best practice and local needs.
8. Driving effective application of negotiation tools and products.
9. Continuously identifying specific negotiation best practices and training needs, and driving negotiation tools enhancement.
10. Engaging directly with partners on commercial and contractual terms.
11. Providing expertise on deal structuring and advising key stakeholders on the impact of deal terms: providing creative solutions to stakeholders and leadership.
12. Closing commercial transactions: briefing senior management and coordinating internal and customer stakeholders.

Requirements:

* Demonstrated capability of handling complex negotiations.
* Ability to lead partner-facing negotiations.
* Ability to explain standard agreement terms to counterparties and negotiate fallback positions to those terms where appropriate.
* Ability to act as a trusted advisor to business teams to support the strategy, negotiation, and execution of enterprise agreements.
* Strong customer orientation and commercial acumen.
* Responsibility for organization's success, thinking and acting beyond immediate team or area of focus.
* Ability to drive strong cross-functional engagement with both internal and external teams.
* Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple negotiations.


Basic Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or equivalent qualification.
2. Previous experience in delivering and influencing business processes using data analysis, modeling, and forecasting.
3. Previous experience in commercial contract experience and facilitation of large cross-functional teams.
4. Strong oral and written communication skills: ability to simplify complex topics for broad audiences.
5. Attention to detail and high ability for data mining: comfortable using databases and analytical tools and making data-based decisions.
6. Creative and ideas-driven in finding new solutions/designing innovative methods, systems, and processes.
7. Ability to prepare, report, and interpret large sets of data.


Preferred Qualifications

1. This role suits a procurement professional with a business, commerce, or engineering degree however remains open to all bachelors.
2. Proven experience of working in a fast-paced, highly complex analytical environment preferably in Supply Chain, e-Commerce, Consulting, or Finance.
3. Highly analytical and capable of communicating effectively with customers and senior management.
4. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
