About the Role and Responsibilities:
Port Phillip Ferries is seeking a self-motivated and experienced Master < 45m Near Coastal (NC) for our 35metre F2 Fast Craft catamarans that carry up to 400 passengers.
As a Master, you will be entrusted with the safe and efficient operation of our premium vessels, delivering unforgettable bay cruises, events, and transport experiences on our spectacular vessels along with our vibrant crew.
Responsibilities include:
· Command the vessel and oversee its daily operations and safe navigation
· Conduct pre-departure checks and routine tests of navigation and control systems
· Ensure all safety equipment is maintained and functional
· Lead emergency procedures and safety drills
· Mentor and manage onboard crew members
· Ensure vessel maintenance, cleanliness, and compliance with environmental policies
· Liaise with landside teams & passengers to deliver excellent customer experience
About You:
You’ll bring proven experience of operations demonstrating confident command, strong situational awareness, and a safety-first approach. You take pride in ensuring safe, efficient, and professional vessel operations. With a passion for the marine environment and customer experience, you ensure every journey is smooth, secure, and memorable.
Qualifications:
* Master <45m Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or higher
* Radio Operator Certificate of proficiency (or equivalent)
* Provide First Aid & Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID011)
* Strong leadership and people management skills
* Sound knowledge of maritime and other legislation
* Advanced knowledge of marine incident reporting & collisions regulations
As a requirement of the role, the successful applicant must have acquired the following Local Knowledge:
* LK 6 Geelong
* LK16 Port and Ports of Port Phillip Bay (South)
* LK 18 Port and Ports of Port Phillip Bay (North)
* LK 19 Yarra River

Successful candidates will undergo the following comprehensive induction & inhouse training, which includes but not limited to:
- Fast Craft Level 1,2 & 3
- ECDIS Training
- Lookout / Master Simulator Training
