Role Description
The SAP Finance Lead Solution Architect is a senior delivery role responsible for leading the Finance stream architecture and functional governance for an SAP ECC to S/4HANA brownfield system conversion within the client environment. The role is accountable for ensuring financial integrity, statutory compliance, and continuity of business operations throughout the conversion lifecycle, while enabling controlled adoption of S/4HANA Finance capabilities. The role works closely with Program Leadership, Finance stakeholders, technical teams, and SI partners to drive a low-risk, audit-compliant transition.

Roles and Responsibilities
* Own and govern the SAP S/4HANA Finance solution architecture for the brownfield conversion program.
* Define and manage Finance conversion scope, ensuring minimal disruption to existing business processes and controls.
* Lead Finance impact assessments covering data model changes, functional simplification, and Universal Journal adoption.
* Ensure alignment of Finance design decisions with client financial policies, audit requirements, and delegated authorities.
* Assess the existing SAP ECC Finance landscape, including custom developments, enhancements, integrations, historical data volumes and dependencies.
* Guide decisions on custom code remediation, data cleansing, and simplification items impacting Finance.
* Oversee Finance-related activities during system conversion and mock cycles, Finance reconciliation and reporting validation, and parallel close/parallel run where applicable.
* Provide Finance leadership for integration testing, regression testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), conversion dress rehearsals and cutover planning.
* Ensure end-to-end Finance reconciliation (GL, AA, CO, FM where applicable) across pre and post conversion systems.
* Support Finance readiness for go live and hyper-care, including issue triage and resolution oversight.
* Act as the primary Finance solution contact for agency Finance stakeholders, Project Management, and System Integrator teams.
* Support senior stakeholders by explaining conversion impacts, risks, and mitigations in business terms.
* Mentor Finance functional leads and ensure consistent application of agreed design principles across the project.
* 12+ years of SAP Finance consulting experience, including leadership on large and complex SAP programs.
* Demonstrated experience as Finance Lead or Solution Architect on S/4HANA brownfield conversions.
* Prior delivery experience within Australian public sector projects is strongly preferred.
* Deep hands-on expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance, including FI (General Ledger, AP, AR), CO, Asset Accounting, Universal Journal (ACDOCA).
* Strong understanding of Finance-specific brownfield impacts, including new data model and table structure changes, historical data retention and reconciliation, decommissioning of obsolete ECC functionality.
* Proven experience with SAP Public Sector Management (PSM FM), including budgets and funds structures, commitments and actuals, availability control.
* Strong understanding of financial management and reporting requirements, including appropriation and budget controls, statutory and audit obligations.
* Experience with FI CA / PSCD for revenue and collections is desirable.
* Strong experience or working knowledge of Treasury and Cash Management.
* Experience with Grants Management.
* Working knowledge of SAP brownfield conversion approach, including SUM-based system conversion, SPAU/SPDD and regression impacts, data reconciliation and validation controls.
* Ability to identify and manage Finance specific risks and ensure appropriate mitigation and sign-offs.
