Our services include: 24-hour Emergency Department, 10 bed Intensive Care Unit, 17 bed Coronary Care Unit, 9 Operating Theatres including a Hybrid Theatre, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and Endoscopy, Medical & Surgical Wards
About the Role
Mulgrave Private Hospital Cardiac Services consists of 17 CCU beds, Cath Lab and 29 bed Burnet ward catering for both elective and emergency admissions. Our extensive range of service encompasses a wide range of cardiac procedures including coronary angiograms, PCI, FFR, IVUS, Pacemaker insertions and electrophysiology studies. Cardiac services also incorporate emergent admissions from our Emergency Department including STEMI's, ACS, AF, Heart failure and chest pain. We are seeking a highly motivated cardiac nurse to join our dynamic team. The successful applicant will work closely with the Nurse Unit Managers of all areas our cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons, and report directly to the Manager of our Professional Development Unit
A range of nursing staff work within the Cardiac Services including undergraduate nurses, graduate nurses, nursing staff undertaking the Introduction to Specialty Program and postgraduate students (in conjunction with Deakin University) as well as our permanent nursing team. The successful applicant must be able to engage staff, modifying the education program to the various skill levels required, initiate skill development and educational programs.
Skills and Experience
* Registered Nurse with AHPRA
* Possess a Postgraduate qualification in Critical Care, preferably specialising in Cardiac Care Nursing
* A postgraduate qualification in education and/or a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (preferred but not essential or working towards)
* Excellent Presentation skills. Must be confident in conducting in-service education
* Recent acute Private or Public Hospital experience working within a cardiac department.
* Highly developed interpersonal communication skills with lateral problem-solving ability. Must be approachable and adapt at assessing individual learning needs.
* Must have experience at conducting performance staff evaluations and initiating performance improvement plans
* Must possess a high degree of personal motivation to facilitate best practice cardiac education and patient care.
* Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator in cardiac care would be highly regarded but not essential.
* We would also welcome applications from senior Registered Nurses with consolidated cardiac nursing experience who would like to progress into an education role with a commitment to undertake a postgraduate or Cert IV qualification in education if successful in achieving this role.
