The Environment Communications Officer will lead storytelling and strategic messaging for the Lake Illawarra Coastal Management Program (CMP). This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Lake Illawarra by driving awareness and community engagement around this treasured natural asset.

You will collaborate with teams across the council to develop targeted communications plans aligned with environmental priorities. Your work will highlight the importance of preserving the lake's natural values and preparing our communities for climate change.

* Develop Communications Plans: Work closely with internal teams to create and implement effective communications strategies that meet the council's environmental goals.
* Create Compelling Content: Craft engaging stories and messages for web, social media, and print that bring the CMP to life.
* Cultivate Community Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders to drive participation and build public connection to Lake Illawarra.
* Support Media Relations: Contribute to the council's broader communications efforts by supporting media relations and developing key messages.
* Analyse Engagement Data: Use data analysis to inform strategy and decision-making, ensuring the effectiveness of communications efforts.

About You:

We are seeking a passionate communicator with a talent for turning complex ideas into compelling stories. You will possess:

* Experience in Communications: Solid experience and/or a relevant degree in communications, engagement, or environmental storytelling.
* Crafting Clear Messages: Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging messages that resonate with diverse audiences.
* Digital Content Creation: Digital content creation expertise, including photography and video production, to bring environmental initiatives to life.
* Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively across teams and build meaningful relationships.
* Strategic Thinking: Strategic thinking and project management abilities, allowing you to juggle multiple priorities and deliver impactful campaigns.
