About the RoleReporting to the Planning & Projects Manager, the Senior Town Planner will play a key role in managing complex development applications and coordinating planning outcomes that align with the business’s strategic objectives. This is a senior position, requiring at least 5 years of planning experience and the confidence to contribute technical expertise and leadership across a range of regional projects.You’ll thrive in a role that combines strategic oversight with hands-on project involvement, balancing big-picture thinking with day-to-day problem solving.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage and assess complex development applications, planning proposals, and subdivision designs.Interpret and apply relevant state and local planning legislation, policies, and guidelines.Liaise with councils, consultants, and internal teams to achieve timely approvals and quality outcomes.Prepare and coordinate Statements of Environmental Effects and related planning site analysis and identify planning opportunities and constraints.Negotiate outcomes and provide planning advice that supports the success of business projects.Support project delivery by coordinating approvals (DAs, CDCs, CCs, SCs) and managing RFIs.Provide technical input across the project lifecycle, from concept to completion.
What We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking a confident planning professional with:Minimum 5 years’ experience in town planning (residential or consulting environment preferred).A tertiary qualification in Urban or Regional Planning (or a related discipline).Strong understanding of the NSW planning system and development assessment processes.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical details for different audiences.Proven problem-solving and negotiation skills, with sound professional judgement.Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across diverse teams.Current Australian Driver’s Licence and full working rights.
