The Opportunity
The role of Construction Manager is responsible for planning and delivering all aspects of construction activities for our QLD Rail Systems team. This is a newly created position following the award of a significant signalling works package to UGL.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and stage construction work, both greenfield and brownfield, within an operating railway environment.
2. Interface with management and engineering teams.
3. Ensure adequate resources (personnel, plant, and equipment) are provided. Forecast future resource needs and assist with onboarding new team members.
4. Monitor physical and financial progress during construction and assist with forecasting.
5. Provide leadership, supervision, and inspirational management to all team members (direct and indirect).
6. Ensure construction activities meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and cost, and that schedule deadlines are met.
7. Manage construction administration, including roster management and delegation of responsibilities.
Ideal Attributes
While not all attributes are required, applicants with the following qualities are encouraged to apply:
* Extensive experience managing electrical construction activities in the Rail or Transport sector.
* Experience in rail, signalling, train control, or other safety-critical environments is highly regarded.
* Strong commitment to developing others.
* Understanding of key financial indicators.
* Ability to attract and build effective teams.
