Casual Loading

Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.

Our client has a leadership role available in their Compliance and Enforcement Branch which provides a centralised compliance and enforcement capability for environmental legislation. The agency works with business, industry, government and the community to understand and improve compliance with Commonwealth environmental law. This is an opportunity for an experienced leader to oversee and review the triage assessment of allegations of non-compliance under a range of Commonwealth environmental legislations. This will require timely, consistent and defensible decisions based on risk, evidence and regulatory priorities. The role will also exercise appropriate delegations and regulatory decision-making ensuring all actions meet legislative, procedural and departmental standards. Coordinating and prepare decision-ready materials such as briefs, agenda papers, talking points and Ministerial Correspondence.

Suitable candidates must be Australian Citizens and have demonstrated leadership experience in managing and motivating diverse teams, including setting clear expectations, guiding performance and fostering accountability and collaboration. Experience in Environmental policy or legislation is required as well as strong strategic and operational thinking skills, with the ability to identify improvement opportunities, implement process changes and ensure timely, consistent and defensible outcomes. You will have highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and tailor messages to a range of audiences. Experience with SAT-GIS or similar systems/tools is desirable.
