About Cleaning Services The NSW Government’s reforms to public sector cleaning services entail the NSW Department of Education taking over management of the state’s Whole-of-Government cleaning contracts from January 1, 2026. A team has been established to deliver an enhanced Whole-of-Government cleaning contract for alignment and delivery of all program streams. Including Governance, ITD, Recruitment and Risk Management.
About the role
As the Procurement Lead you will help keep contracts operating effectively, support procurement activities, and contribute to strong supplier performance. This role requires you to work closely with internal teams and contractors to help resolve issues and contribute to long‑term reforms that make a real difference to schools, students, and communities. You will also take responsibility for maintaining accurate reporting, supporting assurance activities, and providing insights that inform procurement decisions and service delivery improvements.

About you
You are a motivated and organised procurement professional who excels in environments where accuracy, accountability, and collaboration matter. You bring a practical understanding of contract management and a proactive approach to identifying issues before they escalate. Your ability to balance operational demands with compliance requirements enables you to support both day‑to‑day activities and long‑term procurement planning with confidence. The ideal candidate will have:
* Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and interpret data to support informed decision‑making.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities, enabling productive relationships with contractors, internal teams, and operational staff.
* A sound understanding of procurement processes, contract performance monitoring, and compliance obligations, particularly within government or regulated environments.
* Confidence in coordinating inspections, preparing documentation, and contributing to assurance and audit activities.
* A commitment to safety, ethical practice, and continuous improvement in all aspects of procurement and service delivery.

Key Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge of procurement and contract management and compliance processes, ideally within facilities or cleaning services.
* Understanding of NSW government procurement frameworks, supplier performance management, and contract administration principles.
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent workplace experience in facilities management, procurement, contract management or a related field.
* Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for paid employment.
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
