The opportunity
Forming part of our broader Enterprise Risk Management leadership team, we're seeking an experienced Environmental Risk Manager to join our team on a contract basis until 29 January 2027.

As our Environmental Risk Manager, we're seeking someone to lead the team in the ongoing deployment of our mature integrated Environmental Management System, ensuring compliance with the principles of ISO 14001:2015.
With support from the Environmental Risk Officer, you will provide professional advice across Council, including Senior Leadership and operational teams in various fields (including construction and other projects and regulatory compliance). You will contribute to and interpret Council's environmental strategies for deployment in the Environmental Management System and coordinate the Environmental Risk Working Group to deliver positive environmental outcomes for Council and its stakeholders.

* This is a contract opportunity – working full-time 35 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement
* Base Salary Range: $108,095 to $127,167 pa based on 35 hours / week + 12% superannuation + $19,364 motor vehicle allowance + $2,464 retention allowance
* You will be working from PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

* A degree qualification in Environmental Science/Management or a related field with extensive experience
* Extensive knowledge of relevant environmental legislation including but not limited to Local Government Act 1993, Protection of Environmental Operations Act 1997, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979
* Extensive knowledge and experience in the management of Environmental Management Systems in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 in a Local Government context
* Ability to instruct or assign work to professional, technical, or administrative staff and review the quality of work being undertaken
* Strong interpersonal skills in influencing and negotiating to gain acceptance of ideas and cooperation of others
