The Position
Eastern Health seeks appoint an accomplished and visionary Executive Director, Clinical Operations (EDCO) to lead the largest and most complex portfolio within what is one of Melbourne's metropolitan public health services. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this pivotal executive role is accountable for the effective leadership and management of Eastern Health's hospitals, with operational and financial responsibility for nominated clinical programs and the achievement of access to all hospital-based services.
As a key member of the executive team, the EDCO will play a central role in shaping the health service's ongoing transformation and sustainable growth. The successful candidate will bring a strategic and collaborative approach to the delivery of Eastern Health's strategic and business plans, ensuring key performance metrics are met while navigating the challenges of a post-pandemic environment. The EDCO will be responsible for optimising the experience of staff, patients, and the broader community, driving continuous improvement and adapting to change across all facets of clinical operations. Championing a culture of healthcare excellence, the EDCO will oversee the operational planning and development of programs and services to meet both immediate and long-term access demands in addition to leading the achievement of all quality and performance targets.
This is a dynamic and challenging opportunity for a resilient, results-driven leader with high emotional intelligence and strategic insight. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong background in hospital operations, a deep understanding of clinical environments, and the ability to guide teams through complexity and foster high performance. Exceptional stakeholder engagement, enterprise leadership, and the ability to build trust-based relationships across the organisation will be essential. A clinical background will be advantageous.
