Receptionist - migration law firm

My Migration Lawyers
Receptionist
Posted: 16 March
Offer description

My Migration Lawyers is an Australian law firm practising exclusively in migration law. We provide legal services to individuals, families, and employers across all Australian states and territories.

We are a growing, digitally operated national practice with a team that values professionalism, clear communication, and high standards of service delivery. Our work covers the full spectrum of Australian migration matters, from visa applications and employer sponsorship through to appeals and complex legal proceedings.

The firm was built deliberately to address common failures in the migration industry and to deliver migration legal services at a higher professional and operational standard than the industry norm.

The Role

You\'re the first point of contact for people who are often stressed, confused, or scared about their migration situation. That matters. How you handle a call or an email sets the tone for everything that follows.

This is a remote role, but it is not a casual one. You\'ll be managing the front door of a law firm where every interaction counts. You need to be organised, reliable, and comfortable working independently from a home office using digital tools all day.

What you\'ll do

* Answer and manage incoming calls and emails from prospective and existing clients
* Book and confirm consultations, ensuring all intake information is collected accurately
* Manage the firm\'s inbox, triaging enquiries and routing them to the right person
* Maintain and update client records and appointment schedules in our practice management systems
* Follow up with clients on outstanding documents, forms, and information requests
* Assist with general administrative tasks that keep the firm running smoothly
* Handle sensitive personal information with discretion and care
* Work within defined procedures and service standards so nothing falls through the cracks

What you won\'t do

* Give legal advice or opinions on migration matters
* Chase KPIs designed to pressure people into signing up
* Work in a chaotic environment where you\'re left to figure things out alone
* Deal with after-hours calls or weekend work as standard practice

Who You Are

You\'re someone who is naturally organised and takes pride in getting the details right. You don\'t need to be reminded to follow up on things. You\'re calm on the phone, even when the person on the other end isn\'t.

You understand that the people calling us are often going through one of the most stressful experiences of their lives. You treat them with patience and respect, not because a script tells you to, but because that\'s how you operate.

You\'re comfortable working remotely and managing your own day. You\'re tech-savvy and confident using digital tools. We are a fully digital firm. Everything is done online, from client meetings on Zoom to task management in Notion and communication through other cloud-based platforms. If you\'re not comfortable working across multiple apps and learning new systems, this isn\'t the right fit.

Experience in a law firm or migration practice is a plus, but it\'s not essential. What matters more is that you\'re reliable, professional, and genuinely good with people.

What You Get

* 25 days annual leave plus Christmas shutdown (doesn\'t come out of your 25 days)
* Birthday Wellness Day, your birthday off plus a wellness voucher
* Mental health days, separate from sick leave, no questions asked
* Work anniversary leave
* Sabbatical after 5 years
* Milestone bonuses at 3, 5, and 7 years
* $400 home office setup allowance
* Structured feedback so you always know where you stand

How We Work

* Remote-first. Genuinely flexible, properly supported. You work from home with the right equipment and clear expectations.
* Managed workloads. We control how much work we take on so staff aren\'t buried. If service quality drops, intake slows until standards are restored.
* Clear systems. Documented procedures, proper onboarding, and defined service standards. You won\'t be left guessing how things are supposed to work.
* Dignity. You will always be treated with respect. That\'s not a slogan. It\'s how we operate.

How to Apply

Apply via SEEK with your resume and a cover letter. Tell us why this role interests you and what you\'d bring to it.

Equal Opportunity

My Migration Lawyers is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, and people of all gender identities and sexual orientations.
