What you'll do
Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, you will:
Lead and inspire the kitchen team, providing training, guidance, and hands-on support.
Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring smooth service
Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Manager to design and update seasonal menus that reflect our tavern style.
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
Manage food costs, inventory, and supplier relationships efficiently.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace regulations.
Oversee kitchen scheduling and labour management, including rostering of all kitchen staff
Work closely with front-of-house management to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
What you'll bring
We are looking for an experienced and passionate chef who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment:
Essential skills and experience:
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in pub, tavern, or high-volume casual dining environment.
Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
Solid understanding of kitchen operations, cost control, and inventory management.
Passion for fresh, quality ingredients and classic tavern cuisine.
Ability to perform under pressure during service times
Food Safety Supervisor certification (or willingness to obtain)
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
Literacy and numeracy skills.
Driver's license and/or reliable after-hours transport.
Knowledge of dietary requirements and special menus.
Experience in workplace health and safety.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and kitchen management software (e.g., "Cook in the Books").
