Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare, review, and analyse financial reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Provide expert accounting advice across the University, ensuring alignment with accounting standards and internal policies
- Supervise and mentor Assistant Accountants within the team, including work allocation, performance reviews, coaching, and professional development
- Prepare and review reconciliations and accounting journals
- Promote and contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of best practice in financial processes
Desirable
- Relevant experience in an aligned commercial organisation or the higher education sector.
Who we are looking for:
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and solutions-focused mindset
- Full membership of an internationally recognised accounting body (e.g. ICAA or CPA) and ongoing maintenance of professional development
- Proven experience in financial or management accounting in a complex organisation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data to inform decisions
- Great organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet competing deadlines
- Experience in supervising or mentoring finance staff
- High proficiency in accounting software systems (e.g., Finance One) and Excel
Alongside the above position requirements, we are looking for a professional who can hit the ground running—someone who brings a strong foundation in technical accounting experience, and the confidence to provide authoritative financial advice that delivers lasting value to our internal customers.
Role Requirements:
- As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
