Liverpool Hospital is looking to hire Health and Security Assistants to strengthen and improve the existing Security Services.
* The 12hour rotating roster offers the best work life balance. You will be provided comprehensive training and development opportunities.
* The Health and Security Assistant (HASA) role works as part of a team, in collaboration with other staff, to assist with managing patients and to provide a safe and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors. HASA are also required to assist clinical staff in the care and comfort of patients, and securing the assets of South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD).
* Provide general assistance in the ward environment, minor cleaning, provide portering for patient transfers around the facility, and you will undertake security related duties as required by the nursing In-Charge and Security Manager. It is expected that HASA provide the highest possible standard of customer service and professionalism at all times.
* NOTE: HASA, like other NSW Health staff, must contact the police if there is suspected criminal activity on or around a NSW Health premises. HASA staff must not place themselves, or be expected by others to place themselves, at unnecessary risk in carrying out their duties. Where there are concerns about public safety the police should be called.
Are You the Right Fit?
You would be the right fit for the HASA role if you demonstrate:
* Ability to work collaboratively with nursing and clinical staff to assist with patient care in a busy Emergency Department environment.
* Commitment to maintaining a safe, calm and secure environment and understand when to escalate concerns appropriately without putting self or others at risk.
* Willingness to support everyday ward operations, including cleaning tasks, patient transfers and general assistance as directed.
* Demonstrate strong customer service skills, showing professionalism, empathy and respect to patients, visitors and staff at all times.
* Willingness to utilise evasive techniques and apply physical restraint once trained.

Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
* Must hold a current Class 1A Security License with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A, Current First Aid Certificate and must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
* Can you describe your understanding of working in a morgue environment and provide an example of how you have followed work health and safety requirements, including infection control and safe manual handling, in a sensitive or high‑risk workplace?
* Tell us about a time you were required to use computer systems and security procedures in your role. How did you apply conflict resolution or de‑escalation skills while communicating effectively with staff, clients, or members of the public, and working under direction within a team?
* Participation in a 7-day rotating roster that includes weekends, public and school holidays, including 12hr day and night shifts.
