Wespine, the leading softwood Timber Processor in Western Australia is currently ramping up production in an exciting new phase for the company and requires an experienced Control Systems Engineer with the right attitude. Duties and Responsibilities:
* Identify safety hazards before commencing tasks and put controls in place to minimise risk and identify opportunities for improvement encountered around site and report hazards to Supervisor
* Analyse plant processes, design and implement improvements
* Troubleshoot problems with processes and hardware
* Plan preventive maintenance
* Coordinate with other team members in order to determine problems and implement solutions
* Provide technical assistance as needed by internal customers
* Manage relations with vendors and suppliers
* Assist the projects department with planned works
* Provide support for electricians on complex breakdowns.
* Work with OEM service technicians whilst onsite
* Commissioning new Equipment
Results to be achieved:
* Mill production and recovery targets achieved, with total plant availability in each section at or exceeding the published budget expectation.
* Process control systems and components constantly tuned in accordance with manufacturers and/or Company's specifications.
* Production supervisors (main customers) are satisfied that their section is getting the required attention in a timely manner
* Improve the overall performance of machines
* Assist with reducing the Engineering downtime
Location:
The position will be located at the Timber manufacturing plant on Moore Road, Dardanup, Western Australia.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
* Able to zero, scale and adjust sensors and control devices
* Able to design, write programs and install logic, for programmable logic controllers (Allan Bradley).
* Able to develop and tune process loop controllers
* Aptitude to learn new skills and progress to an advanced level of knowledge and skill with training
* Problem solving skills
* Leadership skills
* Strong computer literacy
* Ability to identify hazards and put in place suitable controls
* Knowledge
* Allan Bradley control Logix and Rockwell Automation knowledge
* Significant knowledge gained while maintaining equipment within a fast-moving manufacturing plant is preferred
* Extensive experience with PLCs, VFDs, safety and control systems
* Knowledge of machine safety and safety PLCs
* Knowledge of instrumentation
* Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics controls system
* Design and drafting skills
* Detailed knowledge of the requirements of the wiring code AS3000
Highly regarded but not essential:
* Instrumentation qualification (or equivalent experience)
* Communications cabling experience/qualification
Qualifications
* University degree in control engineering or similar experience and length in the role

Physical Requirements
* Must be physically fit for demanding work environment, able to work at heights and capable of walking up to 5 kilometres in a shift including stairs while carrying tools and PPE.
General Comments
* This role needs to be flexible with start times and hours worked, due to the nature of having to deal with machine manufacturer's being located in other countries with offset time zones.
* Longer hours and occasional weekend work may be necessary whilst assisting service technicians or commissioning of new machinery.
