Senior Financial Accountant Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant to lead a small finance team and manage financial operations and statutory reporting. This role involves ensuring compliance with accounting standards, providing high-quality advice to the Chief Financial Officer, and implementing process improvements to support efficient financial management.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting high performance and collaboration.
* Prepare statutory financial statements, position papers, and reports for external auditors.
* Provide advice on the application of accounting standards and Commonwealth Financial Reporting rules (PGPA Act).
* Oversee accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, fixed assets, procurement, and general ledger reconciliations.
* Implement financial policies and process improvements to manage risk, fraud, and compliance.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and other government departments.
Requirements
A CPA or CA qualification is required, along with extensive financial management experience, ideally within the federal public sector. Proven experience in statutory reporting, financial operations, and team leadership is also essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of ERP and financial reporting systems are all required.
