About Blue Tongue Adventure
At Blue Tongue Adventure, we are dedicated to fostering fun, learning, and relationship-building for young adults with disabilities. Our programs, designed by and for young people, offer a diverse range of engaging activities that promote confidence, personal growth, and social skills. Whether through sports, outdoor adventures, art workshops, culinary experiences, or woodwork skills, each day with the Blue Tongue team is filled with excitement and opportunity.
Role responsibilities:
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join our Blue Tongue Day program in Toowoomba/Brisbane. Our programs are dynamic and varied, ensuring that no two days are the same. As a member of our team, you will need to be adaptable, ready to embrace new challenges, and committed to supporting our participants in every aspect of their journey.
Responsibilities
* Supporting young adults to participate in centre based and community group activities alongside peers.
* Assist in skill development in areas like work readiness, cooking, woodworking, digital media, and more.
* Encourage and facilitate social interactions and community participation.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of participants including the use of Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP).
* Work proficiently in a small team.
* Write and maintain accurate written records and documentation including shift notes and goal progress.
About You:
* Energetic, with a positive and solution-focused attitude.
* Strategic thinker with a creative approach to problem-solving.
* Flexible and willing to work across both our day program and Pathways (SLES) space.
* Previous experience as a Disability Support Worker is preferred but not essential.You must have:
* Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, or Community Services or similar (preferred but not essential).
* NDIS Worker Screening or Yellow Card.
* Blue Card for working with children or exemption.
* Current Queensland driver's license.
* Own reliable transport.
* First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003 or equivalent) & CPR.
* NDIS Orientation Module (Or willing to complete).
* A strong work ethic, a positive outlook and the ability to remain calm and professional while under pressure.
Schedule:
* 6-10 hour shifts
* Morning, Day and Afternoon shifts
* Shift work
* No sleepovers, evening or night work
* Opportunity for permanent, part-time.
