The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.
What we do is integral to the Government’s decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer’s money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.
We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.
We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.
The work area
This role is within the Infrastructure Strategy and Policy Directorate which shapes the future of public infrastructure by steering whole-of-government strategy and driving effective project delivery. Acting as a central hub, the team provides expert oversight, cross-agency coordination, and policy leadership—while also safeguarding the State’s Strategic Asset Management Framework.
The opportunity
We are looking for a strategic leader with deep expertise in infrastructure policy and planning, and a proven ability to influence outcomes across a complex, multi-agency environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with a commitment to value-for-money outcomes for Western Australia.
Reporting to the Deputy Under Treasurer, the Director Infrastructure Strategy and Policy is responsible for driving whole-of-government infrastructure planning, overseeing the Asset Investment Program, and providing expert strategic advice on capital project delivery. This includes managing key policy frameworks such as the Strategic Asset Management Framework, leading Treasury’s coordination of the capital works Budget, and ensuring rigorous planning, reporting and accountability mechanisms are in place. The Director leads a high-performing team and collaborates closely with a range of key stakeholders, empowering cross-agency partnerships and championing fit-for-purpose infrastructure that delivers long-term economic and social value.
