Description 12 Month Fixed Term Contract Location – Sydney Opportunity to shape and implement Communication Strategy Time to make your mark! As the Communications Specialist, you will oversee and execute both internal and external communications for our industry leading Data Platforms (DP) team within the Technology Division. You will be part of the broader DP team, which provides analytics, insights, and reporting services for projects and business units across Westpac Group. No two days will be the same, as you will be meeting with a massive cross-selection of stakeholders and developing deep professional relationships at different levels of the business. Key Responsibilities - Develop and execute bespoke communication strategies aligned with Westpac’s Data and AI objectives and initiatives. Translate technical concepts and deliverables into clear, compelling narratives for diverse internal and external audiences. Manage and execute internal communications on behalf of DP, including executive messaging, strategic updates, and employee engagement initiatives. Develop and execute creative internal communications campaigns to drive a data-driven culture across the Westpac Group. Manage and execute external communications, including media articles, speaking engagements, and awards. Monitor industry trends, media coverage, and the competitive landscape to identify external communication and award opportunities. Manage and work effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders, including senior leaders and data specialists. What’s in it for me you ask? An extensive experience gained in a hands-on corporate communications function whereby you have been responsible for gathering a variety of information and providing relevant narratives to a wider internal workforce Tertiary qualifications or studies in journalism would be highly desirable. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills and you are highly adept in using digital communication channels. Strong ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, engaging content. Practical experience in internal communications within a large corporate environment. Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy and a default ability to cater your language and style to suit your audience. Outstanding people skills with extensive experience in managing stakeholder relationships. Experience in the financial industry is a plus as is technology domain experience. Whilst this is a standalone role, you will have no shortage of stakeholder interaction across the group, so it’s mission critical that you have a thirst for learning and the high-end Communications experience we are seeking!
