Overview
We are an Australian-owned, nationally operating company providing specialised end-to-end Building Insurance Repairs. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in Sydney. This permanent, full-time role is pivotal in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end processes, and contributing to reliable financial reporting across the organisation.
Responsibilities
* Assist with month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
* Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank, debtors, creditors, fixed assets and intercompany accounts
* Support the preparation of monthly financial reports and management reporting
* Maintain supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews
* Support compliance reporting, including BAS, IAS, and payroll tax
* Process supplier invoices and credit notes, ensuring correct coding and approvals
* Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
* Maintain creditor ageing reports
* Generate customer invoices and statements
* Process receipts and allocate payments
* Monitor overdue accounts and assist with credit control
What We Are Looking For
* A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (completed or in progress)
* 1–3 years' experience in a similar accounting or finance role (preferred)
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Intermediate Excel and accounting system skills
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
* Progress towards CPA or CA qualification (desirable but not essential)
