We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic School Counsellor to join our wellbeing team in a part-time (0.5) capacity. This role offers a wonderful opportunity for a qualified and caring skilled who is passionate about supporting the mental health, emotional wellbeing, and personal development of children within an educational setting.
As an integral member of our wellbeing team, you will work collaboratively with students, staff, and families to promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment where every child can thrive.
About the Role
- Provide individual and small-group counselling to students.
- Collaborate with teachers, leadership, and wellbeing staff to support student needs.
- Liaise with parents and external professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain confidential case notes and records in line with ethical and legal standards.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of wellbeing policies and initiatives.
- Support key wellbeing and awareness days across the school.
- Champion the school’s commitment to Child Safe Standards and a culture of care.
About You
You are an approachable, compassionate professional who can build strong connections with students, staff, and families. You bring expertise, professionalism, and warmth to your work, ensuring each student feels heard, valued, and supported.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated experience providing counselling and wellbeing support to children and families.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and ongoing professional learning.
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) & NCCHC (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience within an educational environment.
- Understanding of child development, trauma-informed, and restorative practices.
- A warm, flexible, and proactive approach to student wellbeing.
