About This Program
Wellways has several programs providing service to the Greater South Coast region that includes the National Psychosocial Support Measure (NPSM). The NPSM is a program funded by the Commonwealth Government and commissioned through Primary Health Networks to 'provide psychosocial support services to assist people with severe mental illness, resulting in a reduction in psychosocial functional capacity.'

The overall objectives of the NPSM are to:

* support people with a severe mental illness and associated psychosocial functional impairment who are not more appropriately supported through the NDIS; and
* reduce the avoidable need for more intense and acute health services and enhance appropriate/optimal use of the health system.

About The Opportunity
The role of the Peer Wellbeing Worker is to facilitate one-on-one case management support that includes provision of comprehensive eligibility screening and assessment, referral and linkages to appropriate services including primary health services, a range of short, medium and extended interventions for individuals and families according to assessed needs and also provide transition/exit support.

The Peer Wellbeing Worker will also intentionally draw on their own lived experience and effectively communicate the challenges and experiences that contributed to their own recovery, articulate and share personal strategies for self-care, safety and wellbeing, including a personal insight into the impact of stigma and the subsequent effect this has for individuals, families and the broader community.

The Peer Wellbeing Worker will work in partnership with the individual, and their family and carers (where appropriate), to provide a range of non-clinical group-based supports which will assist the individual to achieve their recovery goals.
