Reliability Engineer - Electrical
Location: Portland, VIC, Australia. Employment type: Full time.
About the role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Reliability Engineer – Electrical to join our Portland Smelter team on a permanent basis. The position involves working Monday through Friday with one flexi leisure day every four weeks. The engineer will support operations through technical expertise focused on equipment reliability and plant capacity improvements.
Responsibilities
* Identify long‐term opportunities for improvement through provision of technical expertise with a focus on equipment reliability and improving plant capacity.
* Provide single‐point accountability for engineering support in day‐to‐day operations.
* Act as a catalyst and contribute to improvements in the Operation Area performance in both short and long term.
* Lead root‐cause analysis investigations of failures.
* Develop work scopes for major equipment repairs using fitness‐for‐service approaches.
* Develop and improve equipment‐management strategies using a suite of reliability approaches.
* Implement improvements and drive to completion.
* Participate in capital projects.
* Provide safety leadership, the cornerstone of Alcoa operations.
* Apply sound business acumen to contribute to overall refinery successes.
* Demonstrate passion and commitment to Environment, Health and Safety in the workplace.
What you can bring to the role
* Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, with previous experience in maintenance, reliability, heavy industry or plant engineering.
* Understanding of risk management, quality improvement and reliability excellence processes.
* Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organisation with a customer‐centric mentality.
* Track record in proactive problem solving with initiative and a desire to continuously improve business performance.
* Ability to prioritise a high workload and persevere through daily challenges.
