Role Summary:
We are seeking a motivated student or recent graduate with training in geology and a strong interest in data analytics and geospatial tools to join our team. The role will work closely with our Senior AI Researcher and Senior Geologists to support processing, cleaning and analysing geochemical and geophysical data for mineral exploration campaigns across Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work with big datasets of geochemical assay results in CSV formats to review, validate and edit.
* Handle regional and continental raster and shapefile datasets (e.g., remotely sensed geophysical measurements and geological maps).
* Use QGIS (or ArcGIS) to visualise, overlay, edit and export maps/rasters.
* Assist with basic data engineering workflows required for AI modelling.
* Prepare concise summary reports/notebooks of the work undertaken, highlighting key outcomes and suggesting next steps.
Essential Skills / Experience:
* Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) a relevant undergraduate/postgraduate degree such as Geology, Earth Science, Geophysics, Geochemistry, or Environmental Science.
* Basic familiarity with data management using Excel and other related tools.
* Experience (university training and/or professional work) with GIS software (QGIS or ArcGIS) and raster/shapefile data.
* Good organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to document steps and summarise results.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with Australian geology or exploration settings.
* Some experience in remote sensing (ASTER, Sentinel, Landsat) or geophysical processing.
What we offer:
* Hands-on exposure to real exploration datasets and workflows.
* Opportunity to work within a data science/geoscience team and learn applied workflows in mineral exploration.
* Flexible hours to fit around study commitments.
* Potential to extend into larger projects or longer-term engagement, subject to performance.
