Your Role at LUNA

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The Senior Financial Accountant will work closely with other work streams/departments to provide financial analysis and support to the organisation.

This role requires a balance of technical accounting expertise and operational management, spanning compliance, financial reporting, and fund accounting across a portfolio of startup and scaleup clients, as well as investment funds and complex group structures.

What You'll Be Doing

Financial Accounting & Operations (FinOps)
Managing the end-to-end month-end close including journals, accruals and intercompany transactions
Reviewing & Supporting Payroll Payments, Employee Entitlements, and Single Touch Payroll filings
Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
Completing balance sheet, bank, loan, credit card and investment reconciliations
Supporting budgeting, cashflow forecasting, management reporting and board packs
Tax & Compliance
Preparing and lodging BAS, IAS, PAYG, payroll tax and other statutory obligations
Supporting year-end accounts, tax submissions and audit processes
Liaising with external accountants, tax advisers and auditors
Supporting the tax team with planning and maintaining provisional tax liabilities
Investment Accounting & Admin
Supporting fund accounting requirements including NAV, LP Reporting, capital accounts and distributions
Producing investor reporting (for startups and fund managers) and assisting with liquidity management and audit support
Maintaining investment registers and tracking valuations and performance (in Xero or Fund Administration tools)
Supporting clients in managing regulatory obligations and compliance
Client Portfolio & Relationship Management
Actively manage client relationships and satisfaction through regular check-ins
Track client assignments and ensure high-quality service delivery
Mentor junior team members in best practices

A Bit About You

You're commercially minded, detail-driven, and enjoy working directly with clients. You take ownership, communicate clearly, and can operate confidently across both compliance and advisory-style work.
CPA/CA qualification or near completion (preferred)
3~5+ years' accounting experience, with exposure to BAS/IAS and compliance processes
Strong client relationship management and communication skills
Exposure to startups, scaleups, investment funds, and complex entity structures
Strong working knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS)
Advanced Excel capability and strong experience with Xero
High attention to detail, discretion, and strong professional ethics
Confidence communicating with senior stakeholders, founders, and external advisers
