Job Description Payroll and Staff Maintenance Process accurate and timely payroll in line with the Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award, Teachers Award, and other relevant agreements. Manage end-of-period, end-of-month, and end-of-year payroll processes. Ensure correct payment of wages, penalties, overtime, and leave entitlements. Maintain and update staff records, including timesheets and employment changes. Perform regular audit checks and respond promptly to payroll queries with high-level customer service. Accurately enter new staff details into the payroll system, including codes and accruals. Superannuation and Salary Packaging Maintain accurate staff superannuation records and ensure timely deductions and remittances. Reconcile general ledger superannuation clearing accounts monthly. Manage salary packaging payments, reporting, and remittances to the packaging agency. Process Improvement and Compliance Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll systems and procedures. Work with IT and external providers on system updates and enhancements. Stay current with payroll legislation, tax laws, and awards to ensure compliance. Advise management on procedural changes to meet compliance requirements. Other Duties Assist with general finance tasks as required. The Successful Applicant A successful Payroll Officer should have: Experience processing payroll within a complex organisational structure. The ability to accurately interpret and apply industrial awards and payroll legislation (knowledge of school-related awards is desirable but not essential). Strong organisational skills and the ability to consistently meet deadlines. High attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills. Exceptional communication skills with a focus on delivering high-quality service to staff. Proficiency in school-based payroll systems such as Synergetic, or similar platforms like Employment Hero or Sage Micropay (desirable but not essential).
