Your Opportunity
The Night Residential Care Supervisor will provide supervision, support, coaching and mentoring to a team of Residential Care Workers across the region to ensure a high quality, therapeutically focused care.

In addition, the Night Residential Care Supervisor will attend to and respond to queries, incidents and concerns from staff in a prompt manner. This role plays a vital part in ensuring overnight safety plans for young people in out of home care are met and will be based on-site from the houses. Further to the Residential Care program, this position is also a key contact to respond to regional incidents in the broader Out of Home Care space.

* Gippsland Region, on Gunaikurnai Country
* Homes located in Morwell and Traralgon areas
* Part time (70hrs), Permanent role
* Hourly rate of $46 p/h + penalties +salary packaging
* 2 day face-to-face Orientation Training is mandatory for the successful candidate: Wednesday 5 November and Thursday 6 November

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the nightly operations of the Residential Care homes.
* Provide leadership and supervision to Residential Care Workers.
* Comply with reporting requirements for program components.
* Administration and accountability of annual budgets and program planning.
* Embedding a therapeutic framework by overseeing best practice implementation of Children and Young People's individual case management plans and fostering an outcomes-focused team.
* Develop and assist with house rosters.

Requirements
The successful applicant will hold a minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a relevant qualification (Youth Work, Community Services or Alcohol & Other Drugs fields) as well as previous industry experience -

* Applicants must also complete the Trauma Informed Practice and Upskilling modules as required by Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. Continuing employment is dependent on satisfactory evidence provided within 6 months of being engaged in the role. Our team will support you with your enrolment with our partner TAFE, Melbourne Polytechnic.
* A driver's license (minimum green P's) is essential for transporting young people.

Night Supervisor roster: (fixed roster)
Week 1: Mon 8pm - 6am, Tues 8pm - 6am

Week 2: Mon 8pm, 6am, Tues 8pm - 6am, Fri 8pm - 6am, Sat 8pm - 6am & Sun 8pm - 6pm

About You
We are looking for an empathetic and resilient leader who brings a trauma-informed, culturally respectful approach to their work. They are calm under pressure, open-minded, and committed to providing safe, stable, and high-quality care to children and young people. With strong communication and crisis management skills, they lead by example—supporting staff, fostering a sense of safety and belonging, and ensuring every young person feels seen, heard, and valued.

* Experience in supervising staff, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to respond promptly to staff queries and incidents.
* Ability to de-escalate situations and provide on-site support during incidents.
* Skilled in maintaining records, managing house expenditure, and coordinating staff schedules.
* Capacity to engage with children and young people, and collaborate with external agencies (e.g., DFFH, Police, Mental Health services).
* Willingness and ability to learn about child development, trauma impacts, and relevant legislation and policy.
