What You'll Be Doing
As a lawyer within our legal team, you will support, advise and partner with key stakeholders to review and provide consistent interpretation of legislation relating to the Coal Long Service Leave Scheme and address legal and regulatory issues that arise for Coal LSL.
You Will
* Provide expert legal advice on the interpretation and application of Coal LSL's legislation.
* Advise on employer compliance under the Coal LSL scheme and the implementation of regulatory and administrative processes.
* Demonstrate knowledge of the legislative regime and legal authority governing the Coal LSL scheme.
* Manage workflow and report on progress effectively.
* Review evidence, document findings, undertake legal research, and prepare clear correspondence.
* Engage with employers and employees on legal and regulatory issues in escalated cases.
* Recommend legal and regulatory actions to resolve issues.
* Coordinate with external legal service providers, including court and tribunal proceedings.
* Develop relationships with internal stakeholders to enhance scheme regulation and administration.
* Share knowledge and educate the organization on regulatory functions.
These are permanent positions at varying levels of experience, based in Newcastle.

What You'll Bring
Previous legal experience, with the ability to interpret legislation, preferably in a regulatory setting.
Your Skills and Experience
* High-quality legal analysis and advice skills.
* Critical thinking and strategic problem-solving abilities.
* Effective stakeholder engagement skills.
* Attention to detail and methodical work approach.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication skills, including report and policy writing.
Desirable Skills
* Experience in public sector or highly regulated environments.
* Litigation experience.
* Industrial relations expertise.
Must hold a bachelor's degree in law or equivalent and a current NSW practising certificate.
