About the role
Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is seeking multiple Lawyers to join our Shepparton office. These roles are open to newly admitted lawyers and those with some experience, making this a great opportunity to grow your legal career in a supportive regional setting.
In this role, you will work closely with the local community and gain hands‑on experience in criminal law and family violence. You will receive training, mentoring, and ongoing development while providing legal help to people who need it most.
This role is based at our Shepparton office on Yorta Yorta and Bangerang Country.

About you
* A genuine interest in criminal law and family violence. Newly admitted lawyers are welcome, and training will be provided.
* Ability to confidently represent clients in court, communicate complex legal issues clearly, and advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
* Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with clients in challenging circumstances, explaining legal matters in simple terms.
* Ability to work well with colleagues and external stakeholders in a collaborative environment.
* A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
