The team
Information Technology Services delivers a broad suite of IT capabilities and support to ASIC. We are currently driving major technology initiatives that will accelerate our transformation across key areas including virtualisation, data analytics, mobility, and cloud. The Data Engineering team underpins these efforts by providing essential services to our primary stakeholder, the Data & Analytics Office.
The role
As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enabling ASIC's data‐driven operations. Your responsibilities will include designing and maintaining robust data ingestion pipelines, managing secure and efficient data transfers into ASIC's systems, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of data to support core business functions. This role is critical to empowering analytics, enhancing operational decision‐making, and supporting the broader technology transformation underway at ASIC.
More Specifically, You Will
* Support enterprise data solutions to ensure ASIC users have access to timely, accurate and trusted information.
* Provide ongoing operational support for data infrastructure, including cloud platforms, data lakes, data marts and dashboards.
* Monitor data platform performance and recommend infrastructure enhancements to meet performance benchmarks.
* Implement ETL pipelines using CI/CD methodologies to enable reliable and scalable data delivery.
* Support data projects and initiatives by providing end‐to‐end data engineering services, including impact assessment, design, development, implementation and ongoing support.
* Collaborate with system owners and stakeholders to ensure data availability and work closely with business units to gather requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
* Communicate data‐related issues, risks, insights and provide regular reporting to leadership. Investigate and resolve data‐related incidents promptly.
About You
The ideal candidate for this role is a motivated and technically capable Data Engineer who is eager to grow and contribute to ASIC's evolving data landscape. You'll bring hands‐on experience with data pipelines, cloud platforms, and ETL processes, along with a solid understanding of data infrastructure and performance monitoring. This role is ideal for someone ready to take the next step in their data engineering career while contributing to impactful data and technology transformation projects.
In Addition, You Will Have
* Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
* Familiarity with Business Intelligence solutions (e.g. SSRS, Qlik Sense) and analytics tools and languages (e.g. R, Python).
* Demonstrated knowledge of data warehousing and big data architectures, including data streaming and data virtualisation concepts.
* Strong development capability in Python and SQL.
* Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and to clearly translate technical concepts for business audiences.
* Proven ability to identify, prioritise and respond to strategic and tactical challenges and opportunities by developing and delivering appropriate solutions.
* Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
