The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Anaesthetics is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for multiple Staff Specialist vacancies.
Applications are sought for Specialist Anaesthetists with a strong general clinical background and for those with subspecialty expertise in cardiac anaesthesia. Successful cardiac subspecialty applicants will also be expected to participate in general clinical anaesthetic duties. Experience in teaching and quality assurance in an Australian or New Zealand public hospital setting is preferred.
Cardiac subspecialty applicants - desirable
* Recent fellowship or consultant practice in cardiac anaesthesia
* Ability to perform and interpret comprehensive intraoperative trans‐oesophageal echocardiography, with completion or near‐completion of an appropriate training program
The Role
* Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to patients and their families, including participation in an out‐of‐hours on‐call roster.
* Actively pursue performance improvements in the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine by involvement in clinical support roles.
* Actively pursue improved outcomes for patients by participating in teaching and research relevant to anaesthesia.

Salary
Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award: remuneration comprising base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority. Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $222,789 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $305,539 with further salary increments available.
* Access to Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 - $319,701 is subject to the candidate satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
* Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle (subject to working full‐time hours) OR allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly.
* Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 pro rata per annum.
* On‐call allowance % of Base Salary.
* All other allowances as per current Award.
* Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on‐call, pro rata as additional payment may be paid from PPS. If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.

Details of Appointment
* Fixed term full‐time and part‐time day work (with on‐call), working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as you are ready to join our team until April 2028.
Essential Requirements
* Holds specialist registration; or
* Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway;
* Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) with a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
Desirable Requirements
* Recognition as an Anaesthetist by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) holding FANZCA or equivalent.
* Experience in Obstetric, Neurosurgical and Paediatric Anaesthesia in the last 12 months.
* Clinical exposure at a tertiary hospital standard within the last 12 months.
