We are seeking a Marine Chemistry Specialist to join our team in collecting and analysing seawater samples for nutrients, salinity, and dissolved oxygen at sea and in the shore laboratory.
About the Role
* The role involves contributing to high-quality data collection aboard Australia's research vessel - RV Investigator as part of the national collections and marine infrastructure team.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Collect and analyse seawater samples using standard methods.
* Process results and ensure data accuracy through quality assurance and control procedures.
* Maintain and calibrate lab and shipboard analytical instruments.
* Liaise with clients and stakeholders on data collection, processing, and issue resolution.
* Support data collection and lab operations during sea-going research voyages (up to 85 days per year).
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field, with emphasis on analytical chemistry.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct routine laboratory analyses and troubleshoot issues through creative problem-solving.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
* Ability to travel extensively, including seagoing support on domestic or international ports for periods of up to 85 days per year.
