The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment (DLPE) was established with a clear vision that the Northern Territory’s natural assets are managed sustainably for the benefit of all. The Department leads a strategic land resource assessment program that underpins land use planning, economic development, improved land management and conservation initiatives.
Positioned within DLPE, the Northern Region (Crown Land Estate) is recruiting a Project Officer to provide advice and information to management, other government agencies, developers and the public regarding the management, sale or lease of Crown land in the Big Rivers Region. This involves preparing correspondence, reports and recommendations, contracts and tenders on Crown land management and maintenance, and managing relevant leases and licences. You will also be required to undertake field inspections of land and buildings and respond to complaints on vacant Crown land management issues as required.
To be successful, you require demonstrated ability to interpret, analyse and provide advice on policy and legislation. Well-developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to produce documentation to effectively communicate technical issues to a diverse target audience, and experience liaising in the private and public sector is essential.
Experience in land administration, land use planning or other land management areas will be well received.
To accommodate your residential needs, the position can operate out of either Darwin or Katherine; however, the nature of the work may require travel and overnight stays in regional areas to ensure the key duties and responsibilities of the role are achieved.
