Our Fruit & Vegetable department is at the heart of our store, and we're looking for an experienced and motivated Fresh Produce Manager to lead it to the next level.
About the Role
As Fresh Produce Manager, you will take full ownership of the Fruit & Vegetable department, driving sales, maintaining premium quality standards, and leading a team that takes pride in delivering freshness every day. This is a key leadership role with real impact on store performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, coach, and inspire the Fresh Produce team to deliver outstanding results
* Manage day-to-day department operations, ensuring freshness, quality, and availability
* Drive sales through excellent merchandising, rotation, and visually appealing displays
* Maintain optimal stock levels, manage ordering, and minimize waste and shrinkage
* Monitor gross profit, margins, and departmental budgets
* Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and workplace safety standards
* Deliver exceptional customer service and handle escalated customer inquiries
* Train, develop, and performance-manage team members
* Utilize retail systems and technology to support ordering, reporting, and operations
* Work closely with Store Management to achieve overall business goals
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience as a Fresh Produce Manager or senior role within fruit & veg retail
* Strong leadership and people management skills
* Solid knowledge of fresh produce handling, quality standards, and seasonal lines
* Commercial mindset with experience managing sales, margins, and wastage
* Confident using retail systems and technology
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills
* A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead by example
* Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends
* Australian work rights are essential
