THE ROLE
Rockhampton Girls Grammar School seeks a dedicated, hardworking, and driven Cleaner and Laundry Assistant to join our team for an immediate start.
Details:
Permanent Part-Time (Term Time)
55 hours per fortnight
Monday to Friday, 4.30am to 10.30am
Shift allowances apply

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Cleaner’s core responsibilities include:
Ensuring a clean, hygienic, and safe environment for staff and students in classrooms, dormitories, laboratories, offices, and communal areas.
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness at all times.
Attending training and professional development as directed.
Adhering to workplace health and safety procedures, including safe use of chemicals and equipment.
Being aware of emergency/fire procedures and responsible for designated duties during emergencies.
The Laundry Assistant’s responsibilities include:
Operating washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment.
Reporting issues or malfunctions.
Maintaining and cleaning laundry equipment.
Measuring and adding detergents and other laundry aids.
Folding and returning laundry items promptly.
Handling un-labelled clothing from boarding students.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization of laundry facilities.
Following health and safety protocols, including proper storage of chemicals and PPE.
Reporting equipment issues and managing lost or damaged items.
Assisting with additional housekeeping duties as needed.
OTHER DUTIES
Driving boarding students to appointments as required.
Attending professional development.
Promoting the interests of Rockhampton Girls Grammar School.
Performing any other duties as directed by the managers.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team.
Experience or knowledge of cleaning in a school or similar environment is advantageous.
Flexibility, sound judgment, and decision-making skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as rostered, with attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Physical stamina for repetitive tasks and heavy loads.
Knowledge of laundry products and cleaning techniques, especially for delicate fabrics.
Willingness to uphold the school’s values.
Motivational skills and emotional resilience.
High level of time management and multitasking ability.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or ability to obtain one.
Subject to screening procedures in line with child protection policies.
