We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. This is a challenging role that requires excellent technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance, field servicing, fault finding, and repairs on a wide range of heavy vehicles and equipment. They will work closely with our managers and supervisors to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Promote continuous improvement of safe work practices
2. Work within workshop rules and regulations at all times
3. Liaise with managers and supervisors daily
4. Diagnose and repair faults thoroughly
5. Service and maintain equipment of plant and truck fleet
6. Work to tight schedules while maintaining high standards
7. Implement and maintain Lean practices to ensure quality and cost efficiency
8. Assist in planning and maintaining service schedules
9. Coordinate with suppliers for parts sourcing based on quality and price
10. Maintain company tools and equipment
11. Take ownership of major repairs, working efficiently and maintaining a clean, safe environment
12. Be fully qualified with at least 2 years' experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic
14. Be competent with computers and digital diagnostics
15. Demonstrate outstanding work ethic and commitment
16. Show a strong commitment to Work Health and Safety
17. Be approachable with excellent people management skills
18. Be professional, confident, self-assured, flexible, and eager to improve workshop processes
19. Be a team player, action-oriented, and results-focused, with the ability to handle repairs and priority breakdowns quickly
20. Possess problem-solving skills and the ability to engage peers for optimal outcomes
