The Motorsport Department at Supercars is the cornerstone of the safe, fair and competitive Championship that enables the entire Supercars organisation to continue as the leading touring car category. We take on the responsibility to our organisation, and the broader sport, that the Supercars championship continues to have technical parity between makes, as well as ensuring the overall sustainability of the sport in all aspects.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Performance and Systems Engineer will assist the Motorsport Technical team, and the greater Motorsport department, to maintain the technical integrity of the Repco Supercars Championship through ongoing monitoring of teams and specific analysis of their data. This role involves work across south-east Queensland, Australia and overseas, in both office & track-based environments.
It is an exciting time to be a member of the Supercars Team as the series continues to develop and grow. The responsibility of the Technical department is increasing year by year as we improve our scrutineering ability and capacity to provide a level playing field for all competitors. Additionally, Supercars’ ownership of the GEN3 platform has added a level of responsibility to ensure reliability, safety and parity for all.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Non-event tasks
Team Related
* Respond to team enquiries as required.
* Travel to teams as required for scrutineering & testing purposes.
Scrutineering Related
* In-depth data analysis generating reliability, system, supplier and performance reports for scrutineering, parity & development purposes.
* Pre-event preparation of required templates & software and overview of upcoming event, e.g. MoTeC software.
* Post-event scrutineering checks as required.
* Assist with analysis of control device configurations.
Special Projects
* Assist with new vehicle homologations both locally & overseas, including aerodynamic and engine testing.
* Assist other departments with technical deliverables.
* Provide statistics and technical information to other departments as required.
Event/track-based tasks:
Team Related
* Respond to team enquiries.
* Maintain a presence on pit lane.
* Evaluate vehicle issues during sessions or post-sessions.
* Assist with diagnosing issues with control components & wiring.
Scrutineering, data & analysis
* Assist with vehicle ECU data downloads in VCS & Dunlop Series as required.
* Assist with downloading and processing data from accident data recorders.
* Post session analysis of cars performances and parity monitoring using timing system and MoTeC data across various metrics & subsystems.
* Producing reports from telemetry or logged data to help enforce rules.
* Assist with scrutineering during & post-session as required.
Other
* Set-up and tear-down of motorsport operational equipment, including scrutineering patch, etc.
* Set-up, tear-down, and maintenance of Supercars data centre.
* Assist with overall Supercars business needs as required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
You should possess the following professional skills and experience:
* Degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
* Prior Supercars or international-level motorsport experience essential.
* Highly skilled in MoTeC software, e.g. i2 Pro, Dash Manager, T2 Server.
* Highly skilled in Office Suite, specifically Excel (including effective data visualisations, and the ability to write advanced formulas, macros, scripts, etc.)
* Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics & simulation techniques advantageous.
* Solid programming knowledge (Python, VB, etc.)
* Understanding of computers, networking & electronics advantageous.
* Experience with motorsport timing & database software helpful (e.g. KDT2, HHDM).
