Rare Opportunity – Volunteer Stable Hand Position
Open to applicants with or without their own horse
We are looking for a reliable, hands-on person to join our busy eventing stables in a volunteer role. If you love being around horses, enjoy keeping things organised, and want to be part of a hardworking team — this could be the perfect fit.
This role offers the chance to be part of a professional eventing program, led by an established FEI-level rider. You’ll gain valuable behind-the-scenes experience in how a performance team operates — from daily training to competition preparation and everything in between.
What we offer:
- Option to bring your own horse
- Involvement in lessons, clinics, competitions, and training days
- A supportive team environment with guidance and training provided
- Flexibility around hours for the right person
- After a probationary period, there may be a small allowance to help cover travel costs
Duties include:
- Mucking out stables and cleaning horse boxes daily
- Feeding, rugging, grooming, and general horse care
- Sweeping, tidying, and keeping facilities organised
- Tacking up, untacking, and washing down horses
- Cleaning and maintaining tack and equipment
- Helping with packing/unpacking for lessons, training, and events
- Assisting at competitions and clinics
- Lunging performance horses — confidence on the ground is important
- Plaiting horses for events (training provided if needed)
- Using initiative and being proactive around the stables
This is a very hands-on role, ideal for someone who takes pride in their work and can be trusted to work independently once trained.
Riding is not a guaranteed part of this position, but for the right person, opportunities may be available over time.
Hours:
A mix of early mornings, afternoons/evenings, and some weekends. We are flexible for the right person.
If this sounds like the right environment for you, please apply with your CV and a short cover letter outlining your horse experience and availability.
