About The Role
We're partnering with a growing, forward-thinking business looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to take full ownership of the finance function.
$150,000 + Super
St Kilda Road (hybrid flexibility)
Full-time / permanent role
What You'll Be Doing
* Financial Management
o Own the month-end process (journals, reconciliations, accruals)
o Manage AP/AR, invoicing, and debtor follow-ups
o Maintain Xero, bank feeds, and general ledger
o Lead budgeting and forecasting
* Payroll & Compliance
o End-to-end payroll (STP, super, PAYG)
o BAS/IAS preparation and lodgement
o FBT, payroll tax, and compliance reporting
o Reconciliation of payroll and entitlements
* Project & Operational Support
o Support project system accuracy and invoicing
o Monitor timesheets and billable hours
o Partner with project managers to improve financial outcomes
* Cash Flow & Forecasting
o Maintain and manage cash flow forecasts
o Monitor cash position and identify risks/opportunities
* Reporting & Insights
o Deliver weekly and monthly reports with meaningful commentary
o Track KPIs and provide actionable insights
o Ad hoc analysis to support leadership decisions
* Systems & Process Improvement
o Identify and implement smarter ways of working
o Document SOPs and maintain clean financial records
o Support upcoming ERP implementation
* Leadership
o Manage an offshore finance resource
o Work closely with the CFO and leadership team
o Contribute to strategic and operational initiatives
What You'll Bring
* 7+ years' experience in accounting / finance roles
* Strong Xero (or similar ERP) experience
* Advanced Excel / Power Query skills
* Solid technical accounting knowledge
* High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
* Confident communicator who can engage with senior stakeholders
Bonus Points
* CPA or CA qualified
* Experience in a tech or project-based environment
* Exposure to ERP implementations or system improvements
