Visiting Medical Officer Opportunity in General Practice
This role is for a Visiting Medical Officer to provide services to three Multi-Purpose Service sites in rural New South Wales.
About the Role
The Management of the Peel Sector is seeking applications from General Practitioners to provide Visiting Medical Officer services to the Multi-Purpose Service sites of Manilla, Quirindi and Barraba.
* Quirindi: A community hospital with a 24-hour emergency department and capacity for up to 20 inpatients.
* Manilla: The largest Multi-Purpose Health Service (MPS) in New South Wales, providing a 24 hour emergency department and a range of acute and aged care beds.
* Barraba: A multi-purpose health service with 16 residential aged care beds and 6 acute beds.
Key Responsibilities
1. Admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth and on-call services as determined by HNELHD.
2. Attendance and availability during rostered work hours and whilst on-call including clinical handover, clinical supervision, teaching and for emergency and routine care as determined by HNELHD.
3. Provision of education and research as determined by HNELHD.
4. Primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the RACGP or ACRRM, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
5. Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in General Practice.
6. Evidence of being a scholar, maintains medical professional development and has the ability to assist other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
7. Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
8. Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings.
9. Evidence of being a manager, including ability to be flexible and cope with a changing health system, past leadership and management experience and previous safety and quality improvement activities.
10. Evidence of being a professional, including continued professional development, peer review and other forms of clinical governance.
11. Evidence of being an advocate, including contributions to improving individual and societal health.
