Head of IT role at Profusion – NRFC technology leadership opportunity

Shape the future of Australia's industrial capability. Profusion Group have been exclusively retained to complete the search process for a Head of IT to lead the technology strategy for the NRFC.
The National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC) is Australia’s sovereign investor in industrial capability, with a $15 billion mandate to transform and diversify our economy across seven priority areas; from renewable energy and defence to medical science and agriculture.
They’re building a team of bold thinkers and collaborative leaders. As one of NRFC’s early technology leaders, you’ll be at the forefront of a once-in-a-generation nation-building initiative. This role offers the unique opportunity to establish technology foundations from the ground up, influence executive and Board-level decisions, and create lasting impact.
What You’ll Do
- Lead NRFC’s technology portfolio, ensuring infrastructure, systems, and networks meet best practice and compliance standards.
- Develop and execute strategic IT plans aligned with business goals and growth.
- Build and inspire a high-performing, collaborative technology team and shape NRFC’s technology culture.
- Design and implement enterprise and data architecture to support innovation and scale.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Team and Board on how technology and data can drive innovation and business value.
- Set and lead NRFC’s Security and Governance strategy, embedding robust, proactive controls that safeguard critical systems and data.
- Direct vendor partnerships and technology investments, driving performance, accountability, and value across the IT portfolio.
- Harness emerging technologies — from AI and automation to ethical tech applications — to unlock innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
What You’ll Bring
- 10+ years’ experience in technology leadership, ideally within financial services or investment environments.
- Proven success in start-up or scale-up environments would be an extra strength.
- Strong business acumen and ability to translate tech into business value.
- Expertise in Microsoft technologies (Azure, Office 365) and modern IT practices.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and team development skills.
- A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; further studies in AI or machine learning highly regarded.
