Role – Executive Director, Insurance & Investor Insights (REQ)• Permanent• Location: Sydney• Information worth noting: Executive‐level leadership role within Corporate & Institutional Banking, with end‐to‐end accountability for insurer client strategy, growth and risk management, alongside responsibility for delivering differentiated client‐facing investor insights.
How will I help?
As Executive Director, Insurance & Investor Insights, you will play a senior leadership role within Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB), leading coverage for life insurers, general insurers, insurance brokers and reinsurance clients. You will also be responsible for developing high‐quality, client‐facing market and investment insights to deepen engagement with strategic institutional investor clients.
Reporting to the Managing Director, Financial Institutions & Government (FI&G), you will own client strategy, sustainably profitable growth and risk outcomes across the insurance portfolio. You will provide product‐agnostic coverage to highly technical counterparties, originating and delivering integrated solutions across funding, capital markets, transaction banking and risk management.
A core part of the role is building Westpac Institutional Bank's thought‐leadership capability across insurance and investor segments—using insights on capital, liquidity, asset allocation and market trends to strengthen relationships, differentiate coverage and position Westpac as a trusted strategic partner. You will also build and lead a high‐performing team, fostering strong execution, technical capability and a performance‐driven culture.
Key responsibilities include:
* Owning client strategy and total relationship outcomes across Insurance & Investor Insights
* Acting as the lead spokesperson and market face for Insurance
* Building deep senior relationships and delivering sustainably profitable growth
* Originating and delivering integrated funding, capital markets, investment and risk solutions
* Engaging with highly technical stakeholders across treasury, investment and capital functions
* Developing differentiated, client‐facing insights on asset allocation, capital, liquidity and market trends
* Using insights to deepen engagement with insurers and institutional investors
* Holding accountability for credit and non‐financial risk aligned to risk appetite
* Driving FX, interest rate and derivatives growth through embedded hedging solutions
* Building, leading and developing a high‐performing, technically capable coverage team

What do I need?
You'll bring deep experience across insurance and/or investment banking, with a strong understanding of insurer balance sheets, capital frameworks and investment strategies. You'll be a credible executive leader, comfortable engaging with highly technical counterparties and balancing growth, risk and capital outcomes.
Key experience and capabilities include:
* Experience across insurance and/or institutional banking, including funding markets and treasury
* Strong understanding of insurer balance sheets, capital frameworks and investment strategies
* Ability to engage credibly with senior technical stakeholders across treasury, investment and risk
* Proven capability in originating and delivering financing and risk management solutions
* Strong technical understanding of FX, interest rate and derivatives markets
* Demonstrated experience managing credit and non‐financial risk in regulated environments
* Strong commercial judgement and executive‐level influencing skills
* Established network across insurers and/or institutional investors preferred
* Proven experience leading, developing and sustaining high‐performing teams
* Relevant tertiary qualifications preferred
