The Business School are seeking a Manager, Research Enterprise and Engagement to support identifying and developing new engagement opportunities with potential partners located both locally and internationally.
The Manager, Research Enterprise and Engagement will play a pivotal role in overseeing operations and providing strategic support for the Business School's Level 2 Research Centres, Hubs, and Research Groups. A key focus of the position is fostering effective collaboration between academic researchers and external partners, including industry, government, philanthropic agencies, and foundations.
Working closely with academic leaders, this role will help identify gaps in workforce expertise related to research partnerships and multidisciplinary projects. You will design and implement initiatives that strengthen researchers' ability to build external collaborations and develop large-scale programs such as ARC Centres of Excellence and Cooperative Research Centres.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
* provide effective research partnership and enterprise management for the Faculty
* work in association with the Deputy Dean (Research) and Associate Dean (Research Education), Head Research Services, L2 Research Centre and Research Group Directors and Research Hub Community Leads to develop and implement the Research Engagement and Impact Strategy
* lead and support the creation and growth of an entrepreneurial culture with the Faculty
* support the identification, evaluation and development of end-user engagement opportunities and the recording of these as evidence of engagement and impact initiatives of the Faculty
* as part of Research Services, lead, support, organise, and participate in seminars, information sessions, workshops, and other relevant activities to inform and educate researchers of partnership and other engagement avenues
* lead in identifying, fostering, and maintaining new and existing industry, Government, organisations, and philanthropic agency partnerships
* promote the University and the School at relevant industry events such as conferences, meetings, seminars, and workshops and ensures maintenance of up-to-date skills and knowledge.
About you
* demonstrated knowledge of the processes and frameworks for developing and managing strong research partnership programs and the related risk profile
* the ability to develop strategies to perceive and capitalise on new opportunities to find and grow industry and end-user partnerships to develop research
* the ability to foster an entrepreneurial culture and build partnerships between the research, business, and government communities
* comprehensive understanding of the research capabilities, expertise and assets of the Faculty (or a demonstrated ability to quickly acquire this knowledge)
* excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact across all required professional spheres; academic, administrative, clinical, public, and corporate sectors
* the ability to manage competing demands in a well-structured manner
* demonstrated management and project management skills and familiarity with contract legal issues
* experience of commercial opportunities from research or technology developments
* experience of working in industry or a university or research organisation, commercial office, or company in a sales/business environment.
