The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) is a key agency at the very centre of government that provides specialist financial, economic and commercial advice to the Northern Territory Government. The Department has a well-established reputation for providing high quality, expert and specialist policy advice and services, to the Treasurer, Northern Territory Government (NTG), other agencies and the Territory community.
Currently, DTF have several openings in the team for Principal Financial Analysts (AO7), Senior Financial Analysts (AO6) and Financial Analysts (AO5). As part of this selection process all applications will be evaluated against each level and offers of employment will be made based on experience and expertise.
As a Principal Financial Analyst (AO7), you provide high-level advice and support to senior stakeholders on the Territory's financial management and accountability framework, financial policies and accounting and budgetary requirements. Your key responsibilities include training and supervising a team of financial analysts to ensure the Territory's financial framework is upheld.
As a Senior Financial Analyst (AO6), you handle similar tasks to the Principal Analyst but with a focus on less complex duties. Your role involves providing advice on financial management, accounting and budgetary aspects while assisting with supporting and training a team of financial analysts.
It is essential both the Principal and Senior Analysts have demonstrated knowledge and experience of accounting concepts and analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to conduct complex financial analysis and provide advice on financial issues, including legislative and accounting standards.
As a Financial Analyst (AO5), you will assist the Unit to meet the Territory's fiscal reporting needs, offering advice to clients and analysing government agencies' financial performance.
Experience with financial reporting, supported by sound analytical and critical think skills are essential for the AO5 level Financial Analyst.
To be successful, a combination of highly developed communication and conceptual analytical skills, along with relevant experience in financial and policy analysis, is essential. These skills are fundamental in navigating the complexities of the professional landscape.
Relevant tertiary qualifications accounting, finance or a related field along with membership of a recognised professional accounting body, would be highly valued.
