WHO ARE WE?
The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation ('BCF') is one of Sydney's most trusted frontline charities and has been supporting the community for nearly 40 years. Our mission is to address homelessness and hardship by providing essential services including food social welfare healthcare education and community programs.
Our Social Health and Wellbeing ('SHW') team is often the first point of contact for individuals facing complex and multiple challenges. The team provides a broad range of assistance from crisis intervention and short-term case management to medical dental and complementary healthcare support.
THE ROLE
This position is central to welcoming individuals and families seeking support. As our Triage Medical Receptionist you will be the first point of contact for clients who may be distressed or unsure where to turn. You will create a calm safe and welcoming environment while directing clients to the appropriate internal and external supports.
This position will commence immediately.
The role offers part-time or casual hours with flexibility to accommodate a minimum of two days per week. Typical hours are 8.00am to 4.00pm however the schedule can be tailored for the right person. You will work alongside a dedicated and supportive team and play an important role in helping clients access timely care.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As our Triage Medical Receptionist, you will:
* Welcome and engage with clients in person and over the phone with empathy professionalism and respect.
* Conduct triage and book appointments linking clients with suitable internal or external services.
* Maintain accurate client details and enquiry notes using multiple information management systems with training provided.
* Scan manage and organise documents and assist with general email correspondence.
* Provide a calm safe and organised reception environment for clients staff and volunteers.
* Escalate clients in crisis to the appropriate BCF team member or external provider.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You are a compassionate steady and confident communicator who remains calm under pressure and provides reassurance to others. You can manage competing priorities and create a positive experience for every person walking through the door.
You'll also bring:
* Previous experience in medical administration triage or reception work in community or healthcare settings.
* Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage with individuals experiencing vulnerability or crisis.
* A respectful non-judgemental and person centred approach.
* Sound multi-tasking and prioritisation skills in a busy environment.
* Intermediate computer literacy with accuracy in entering and maintaining information.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Awareness of community support pathways which is desirable but not essential.
