Job Title: Maritime Lawyer
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maritime Lawyer to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of international shipping and domestic commercial vessels, as well as protecting the environment from ship-sourced pollution.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in maritime law and be able to provide expert advice on complex corporate regulatory and operational matters. You will also be responsible for undertaking statutory interpretation and identifying practical regulatory outcomes, supporting legislative drafting and information management functions, and promoting legal awareness within our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide independent written and oral legal advice on complex corporate regulatory and operational matters
* Undertake statutory interpretation and identify practical regulatory outcomes
* Support legislative drafting and information management functions
* Promote legal awareness within the organization
* Provide other assistance as required
Requirements:
* Tertiary level qualification in law or comparable overseas qualification
* Admission to practice as a legal practitioner in an Australian State or Territory and ability to acquire a practicing certificate
* Skills and experience in one or more relevant law discipline (refer to position description)
* Analytical skills and good judgement with the ability to develop practical solutions
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts across all organizational levels
* Demonstrated ability to engage with and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities while delivering quality timely outcomes
