Every day, women and children arrive at our refuge seeking safety, stability, and support after experiencing family violence.
The Salvation Army's Family Violence Services in Darwin provides secure accommodation and practical, trauma-informed assistance during this critical time.

Our focus is on empowering women and children as they rebuild their lives.
About the role
As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner in our refuge, you'll provide practical, client-centred support to women and children as they move from crisis toward safer, long-term options.
Your work will involve assessments, safety planning, case management, and day-to-day support for families living in the refuge.
You'll be based at our confidential refuge location and work closely with a small, supportive team, as well as external services and community partners, to ensure each person receives coordinated and effective support.
This a permanent, full-time position based in Darwin, NT.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, Level 5.
How you will make an impact
Provide calm, practical support to women and children entering the refuge.
Complete risk assessments and safety plans that respond to each person's circumstances.
Work collaboratively with clients to develop achievable case plans that reflect their goals.
Support families to access housing, health, legal, financial, and community services.
Monitor progress and adjust plans as needs change.
Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external providers to ensure continuity of care.
Maintain accurate, respectful client records in line with organisational requirements.
Identify risks early and escalated appropriately.
Contribute to service improvements and a positive team culture.
What you will bring
A Social Work qualification (essential).
Experience in family violence, child wellbeing, or community services (highly regarded).
Strong case management skills and confidence working in crisis situations.
A calm, steady approach and the ability to build rapport quickly.
A commitment to trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.
The ability to work independently while staying connected to the team.
Solid organisational and record-keeping skills.
Willingness to participate in an on-call roster.
