On 1 January 2026, Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health and Nexus Primary Health merged to form a new, unified not‑for‑profit community health organisation, Omnia Community Health. This decision followed an extensive exploration process that confirmed the merger will improve access to safe, high‑quality and sustainable health and community services across the Hume, Macedon Ranges, Mitchell, Murrindindi and Strathbogie local government areas.
About the Role:
The Inclusive Communities Officer position is an exciting opportunity to drive positive change within our communities.
As the Inclusive Communities Officer, you will work closely with partners across Mitchell Shire, Sunbury and the broader catchment to deliver social inclusion, health promotion, capacity building and community engagement outcomes with a primary focus on gender equity and LGBTIQA+ inclusion. You will champion rights-based practice for marginalised or vulnerable communities including providing leadership to the organisation and partners in your area of practice.
A typical day may include:
* Planning, implementing, evaluating and reporting on evidence-based activities within the Omnia Community Health, Health Promotion plan, with a focus on gender equity, inclusive sports, and social inclusion for women, girls and LGBTIQA+ people.
* Developing and maintaining relevant partnerships and networks across the catchment, including with women’s health services.
* Demonstrating innovative community engagement, including events and awareness-raising activities in the general community and opportunities for community members to be empowered through engagement in the leadership, design and delivery of activities.
* Providing advocacy and support to the community on identified priorities, applying asset-based community driven principles.
* Providing expert advice and leadership to the organisation in your area of practice, including best practice gender equity, prevention of gender-based violence and LGBTIQA+ inclusion.
About You
Essential:
* Experience working in gender equity and social inclusion for women, girls and LGBTIQA+ people.
* Strong project management and evaluation skills, ideally within health or community services.
* Excellent relationship-building, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Ability to work creatively and compassionately, both independently and as part of a team.
* A commitment to cultural safety and improving health equity.
* The ability to meet compliance requirements: National Criminal History Check, NDIS Safety Screening, Working with Children Check, and valid Australian working rights.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of LGBTIQA+ communities and issues, gained through lived experience, community involvement, or relevant professional experience.
* Content expertise in health promotion
