About Buru

Buru Rehab is an award winning and proudly Aboriginal owned earthworks and mining services contractor. Our core business covers mine rehabilitation and site services for projects throughout Western Australia. Our mission and values drive our passion to break down barriers and provide real and meaningful opportunity for local indigenous people, and businesses, to work on and heal their Country through our projects.

The Role

Buru Rehab is growing, and we're looking for a passionate, people-focused leader to join us on our journey. As our People & Culture Manager, you'll play a key role in building a strong, connected workforce and shaping the systems, culture and employee experience that make Buru a great place to work.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of a company that genuinely cares — for the land, for our people, and for the communities we work in.

We have a small, supportive P&C team and a tight-knit head office, with most of our workforce located on projects across WA. Depending on project demand, our team flexes between 45–90 personnel. Our office is based at the beautiful Rockingham Foreshore in a modern space with park views.

Your role will include:

* Leading the P&C function, including managing a small team across HR operations, workforce planning and the full employee lifecycle
* Design & implementation of performance management process.
* Supporting leaders with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and performance matters
* Driving people & culture initiatives aligned with Buru's values, mission and strategy.
* Coordinating training, development and engagement programs.
* Ensuring compliance with Fair Work & associated legislation.
* Supporting diversity, inclusion and meaningful Aboriginal engagement.
* Leading key projects including EVP, performance frameworks and organisational development initiatives.
* Providing coaching, guidance and advice to leaders and employees.
* Ad-hoc site travel required.

You'll be the key driver of People & Culture initiatives across the business, responsible for strengthening our culture, ensuring compliance, supporting leaders, and helping our people thrive.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who's not just great at HR — we want someone who genuinely cares about people.

* Previous experience in a People & Culture leadership role.
* Degree qualification in Human Resources (or relevant discipline).
* Empathetic individual with high emotional intelligence.
* Experience in mining, civil, rehabilitation, construction or similar sectors (highly regarded).
* Understanding of Aboriginal engagement strategies with cultural awareness.
* Solid understanding of current employment law & industrial relations.
* High level IT and administrative skills particularly in Microsoft office.
* Flexibility & adaptability - able to thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment.
* A passion for culture, values, people and continuous improvement.
* A respectful, down-to-earth communication style aligned with Buru's values.

At Buru, we are committed to our staff and their development and can offer an inclusive and rewarding work environment which sees our personnel thrive.
